Conserve Our Natural Resources! Use Re-sawn Lumber!

re-awn lumber, architectural millwork, architectural woodwork, Boston, Massachusetts, New EnglandHere at South Shore Millwork we are dedicated to improving the way we do business in order to benefit the environment.  Since we are woodworkers, we see wood as a precious resource. And while wood is a renewable resource, we try to conserve it the best we can.  One of the ways is by re-sawing it.

So what exactly is re-sawn lumber?  Re-sawn lumber is essentially a thick piece of wood that is sawn into thinner pieces.  Linda Haus of Woodworker’s Journal explains the benefits “first, you’ll get the best use out of expensive and beautifully figured wood.  Second, you’ll be able to create book-matched … panels. Third, you’ll have a method to efficiently use salvaged or reclaimed lumber…and fourth, you’ll be able to create your own lumber from a tree or even firewood!”

Additional benefits are that it can be easily bent or glued for a wide range of uses such as flooring, boat building, and door skins.  It’s more stable than veneer, looks healthier, and has less sand-through errors.

But it’s difficult for the average handyman or woodworker to do, that’s why you should count on South Shore Millwork for re-sawn lumber.  We have specialized equipment to expertly cut thick lumber into thinner “skins.”  We offer various widths and thicknesses, in any type of wood, using your material or ours.

So help conserve our natural resources!  Let South Shore Millwork expertly handle your re-sawn lumber and other millwork needs.
